Welcome to the Cactus Land

Hypnospace Outlaw

Well we did promise we would make a neocities. Absolutely charming game of being an Internet Cop that comes with 31 accessibility features including text to speech, one-button play and navigation clarity.

It accurately captures the charm of early internet - seizures, adware, and all that jazz - and you could tell the creators were part of this subculture. It's not just a regular recreation of Web 1.0, but a fully fleshed out world that has the characters interacting with each other in this hypothetical area on the globe. A must-play game for anyone who loves diving into mysteries. Or experiencing people being people, free from all the horrors of the current internet.

Overall rating: Down with Corporations!

Battlechef Brigade

Highly underrated match-3/beat-em-up game! It's so full of charm and delicious looking foods that are based off real life cuisines that will make you crave for Lao Gan Ma. Shame that it isn't super replayable but do games need to be constantly replayed to be good?

Overall rating: Gushing about the art and wishing for a sequel

Library of Ruina

Love dark stories? Love Chainsaw Man (??? what)? Wish Chainsawman was Darker (?????? what are you talking about now) Then play Library of Ruina!

Okay, joke intro aside, this is an incredible storyline, fantastic visuals, and creepy yet haunting music by Mili. Library of Ruina is a sequel to Lobotomy Corp. This time, the gameplay is an extremely difficult deckbuilder, but hey at least you won't have to keep restarting like Lobotomy Corp! While it's not mandatory to play Lobotomy Corp, you may be missing out on essential details on Angela (who is a cactus btw) since the narrative focuses on her journey and growth. Well, unless you do a wiki binge of course.

I wouldn't blame you if you tried to cheat the game because it also features a Completely Unnecessary Gacha Feature that requires you to grind the reception for all the cards. Luckily, cheat engine exists if you really want to bypass this part. Certain fights (especially Hokma's abnormality floors) can be incredibly gimmicky and you will have to make specific decks on top of keeping track of your already existing 30+ decks. This game is long, incredibly difficult, and extremely satisfying. Check out other Project Moon works if you love the setting!

Overall rating: *Turns you into a book*

Nuclear Throne

This game has many cacti in the first area, The Desert. The cacti are very useful for soaking up bullets, though I do wish you could eat them.

Overall rating: Try the mod! When it comes out. Anytime soon now...

Pineapple Island

Strange story: We got the first game (Pineapple Island) for free for steam curator. I think the creator liked us so much that they made Pufferfish (a type of cactus) as the star in this game. It feels and plays like a flash game you'd find on Newsgrounds in the early days of the internet. Certainly an experience.
